Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services
ISO/IEC 17065 is an international standard that sets out the general criteria for bodies certifying products, processes, and services. ISO/IEC 17065 is one of the several standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to support various aspects of quality management and conformity assessment.
The standard is designed for parties that have an interest in certification, including, but not limited to, certification bodies, customers of organizations whose products, processes, or services are certified, governmental authorities, non-governmental organizations, and consumers/members of the public. While this International Standard is concerned with third parties providing product, process, or service certification, many of its provisions may also be useful in first- and second-party product conformity assessment procedures.
ISO/IEC 17065 covers aspects such as:
- Organizational Structure
- Management System Requirements
- Evaluation Requirements
